Separation Wall
Berlin, Germany
Project finish 2018
Elisabet Sundin Architects
Late summer 2018 we were assigned to design some sort of separation wall for an apartment on Wegenerstrasse in Berlin-Wilmersdorf.
The beautiful duplex apartment had only one room qualified for sleeping. But this room had no separation from the open staircase, which made the apartment difficult to use for a couple.
We designed a type of wall with a shelf system towards the living room side combined with a wardrobe towards the bedroom side and then used a sliding door running past the book shelf side. In this way it is possible to let the daylight come through the apartment from both sides of the building when the door is open.
