Kitchen Hermannstrasse

In a small apartment on Hermannstrasse the old PVC-flooring was removed and the original plank floor found under a few layers of chipboard. We decided on two harmonizing colours from Farrow & Ball: No 81 Breakfast Room Green and No 242 Pavilion Gray, to paint a checked pattern diagonally over the wooden planks.
Next to the white walls and classic square 15x15cm tiles we chose work with a light birch. It brings the warmness of wood, but still has a light colour in this small space.
Because of the minimal size of the kitchen, we decided to custom-make the kitchen units and leave the appliances visible. Around the fridge we built open birch shelvings for storage.
For a modern but simple design of the kitchen units, they come with visible plywood edges and raw cutout openings for handles. Kitchen top is the same plywood material coated with a white durable Miniperl layer with a fitted stainless steel sink and armature from Ikea.
